Help your child take control of asthma and start LIVING by removing everyday triggers in the home, school, and/or work environment that worsen symptoms.

Animals: If you choose to have pets, be sure to keep them out of your child’s bedroom.

Dust: Reduce clutter; remove stuffed animals, and vacuum or damp-mop floors weekly.

Exercise: If you or your loved one suffers from asthma and feel breathless during exercise, talk to your doctor; he or she may recommend taking asthma medication right before exercising.

Fumes: Avoid using strongly scented products, such as laundry detergents, cleansers, and perfumes. If possible, consider unscented brands.

Mold: Control mold by cleaning damp areas regularly.

Pests: Remove garbage promptly and use traps instead of sprays to kill insects.

Smoke: Do not allow smoking in your house or car. If you or a guest must smoke, do so outdoors and if possible, change your clothing as soon as you return.

Other asthma triggers include allergies, colds, emotions, pollution and weather. Remember, asthma CAN be controlled, and by taking these simple steps, your child can stop suffering and start living!
